The Malaysian High Commission will provide every kind of assistance possible such as advising on business procedures and guidelines, exploring opportunities and even business matching. We have assisted in the setting up of a few successful business matching.
The High Commission will assist in introducing and recommending Malaysian companies to Brunei companies. As we have quite a number of Malaysians in Brunei in various industries, we would like SMEs from Malaysia to partner as well with them to offer their products and services. These Malaysian companies which are based here in Brunei can be their appointed distributors and agents, for example.
Don’t look at Brunei as a small country with a small population. Our SMEs must change their mindset as Bruneians have the purchasing power as Brunei is enjoying a favourable exchange rate. Brunei government is currently aggressively bringing more foreign investors.
And Malaysia as the closet neighbor, we hold bigger chance and advantage. Besides being closed geographically, we share the same language, culture, tradition and even blood relations.
During the visit of Malaysia Prime Minister Najib to Brunei last August, leaders from both countries have agreed to have a better more economic collaboration. Brunei has also agreed to buy energy from Sarawak.Currently Brunei SMEs are also working closely with their partners from Sabah & Sarawak.
